Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the initial names under consideration to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday after the squad's 10-match winless start to the Premier League season.

Furthermore both candidates - both of who have historic links to the team - are among the options to be considered by the club ownership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would pose a potential hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the former Luton Town manager - who played over a century of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is considered a strong contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the club directors as they begin the process of hiring a fresh manager.

O'Neil is additionally appearing as a surprise contender, although he would be a surprising choice given he was released by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is out of work which means the club would not need to pay any compensation.
