Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the executive mansion.
He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were âdevastatedâ.
Information on the Tragic Event
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Memorials across the state have been held in their honor.
Presidential Invitation
The commander-in-chief stated heâs discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.
âI told them: âWhen youâre able, because thatâs a tough thing, arrive at the White House. Weâre going to pay tribute to her,â the president addressed journalists. âAnd in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.â
Public Support
Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the presidentâs federal initiative to assist policing efforts in the capital.
Remembering Beckstrom
âSarah was the individual that educators wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,â Jarrod Hankins, the principal of her former high school, told the press. âShe was caring, caring and always ready to assist people.â
Service plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Legal Steps and Government Changes
Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.
The event led the administration to suspend asylum processing and halt granting entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is âfighting for his lifeâ, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey said on television.
The stateâs top lawyer Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to the family.
Impact of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, according to the military.
âShe had a lot of goodness and she certainly had courage,â he addressed the audience at the service. âThough her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy thatâs going to endure.â
